These Are A Few

Of my favorite memories one of the best was my time in Charlotte, NC in the mid-nineties.

I was still in a partying phase and had split with my ex-wife and ended up rooming with a couple of guys. One of them had a band (didn’t nearly everyone then?) and was friends with several bands around town so, by association, I became friends with several bands around town.

And this is how I came to meet the fellas from Animal Bag. I went to every show I could get to with them. I drank too much with them. And I smoked too much with them. And it was one of the best times of my life.

There were good times and bad, just like any time of life.

There were nights I didn’t think I was going to live through.

And there were nights I never wanted to end.

And here I am tonight writing this after cooking supper, feeding the family, and washing dishes. The whole time listening to Animal Bag and it took me back. (I can still hit those notes Luke.)

I’m in a place I never thought I’d make it too. I’m in a place I never thought I’d deserve.

Their music is available on Apple and Amazon. And here’s a little bit of it to tempt you in if you’re into that sort of thing.

Well I’ve been livin’ in the city where the days are hot and shitty
And the nights can be so long
Some how I gotta get away, from my same old everyday
I’m headed back where I belong

It’s what I gotta do
Gotta tell ’em all to
Stick it where the sun don’t shine

Everybody gotta move out to the country
Everybody gotta get out of the city

Well now I’m livin’ in the city where the scenery ain’t as pretty
As the grass and trees can be
Some how I gotta ease my mind, to where the sun is always shinin’
Go and see what I can see

It’s what I gotta do
Gotta tell ’em all to
Stick it where the sun don’t shine

Everybody gotta move out to the country
Everybody gotta get out of the city
It ain’t no surprise when you’re under blue skies
You don’t got no worries, ain’t in no hurry
Everybody gotta move out to the country

Fresh air
Times Square
You want to be my wife
Goodbye city life
We are there

I can see the sun, I can breathe the air
I can wear no clothes, I can grow my hair
I got elbowroom and there’s plenty to spare, ’cause
Everybody got to move out to the country
Everybody got to get out of the city
One more time
Everybody got to move out to the country
Everybody got to get out of the city

It ain’t no surprise when you’re under blue skies
You don’t got no worries, ain’t in no hurry
Everybody gotta move out to the country
Whoa yeah

Pack your bags

That’s it. That’s the post.
