Road Warrior, Too

The Colonial pipeline is back in operation. I wonder if some dude in a dark room coded our way out of this or if the ransom was paid?

It will be several days before everything is back to normal. That’s okay. The world needs to slow down anyway.

We have one station in town, Robert’s, that has any fuel in their tanks.

People aren’t making a mad rush for fuel. I was able to fill back up on the Ranger yesterday on the way home. The problem is that it has turned fake winter here again and I still haven’t replaced the heater core in the Ranger. So it was chilly riding yesterday.

I’m working overnight tonight so I went to town to fill up the Escape, which has no AC but does have heat.

So here I am.

Time for a shower and shave. I’m going to eat some lunch, watch some TV, and sleep the rest of the afternoon until they get home this evening.

Then it’s time to go to work.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Road Warrior

So here we are again. Making our way through the world trying to find basic commodities.

Toilet paper didn’t bother me much.

I didn’t give a crap about hand sanitizer.

I have to have fuel. I work on the road between four different locations. This requires that I drive.

So now I’m sitting in a line reminiscent of the 70s.

I was alive when the gas shortages happened then. I don’t remember much.

I remember the lines.

People are panicking and a lot of them don’t have anywhere to go. The word is that most of the public is unemployed at the moment.

So where’s the rush?

Anyway, forty-five minutes later and two gas stations and my tank was full.

This whole country can be shut down in a relatively short span of time over something we take for granted. Things can be disrupted very quickly.

I know I wasn’t in a very good mood this morning. I got to my first store and had a quarter tank of gas. I wasn’t going to be able to make my second store. I pride myself on getting the job done. If the company sets me an impossible task, well…

But sometimes you just have to let things go and do the best you can.

I need to make that my mantra or something.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Today Was…

Today was very middle of the road.

I got up. I drank my coffee. I went to work. I did the job (and then some). I had drive today. Possibly because of my accomplishment from yesterday.

Nothing big happened work related, nothing major. It was just a day.

And it was perfect.

I enjoyed it. I hope tomorrow is as bland. 😏

It doesn’t always have to be exciting. Some of my best days are nothing to write about.

Even though I just did.

Walmartians in the rain. Getting it done.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Night Work

I decided to come in tonight while it’s cooler to work. Putting the car in the shop tomorrow with Mr. Bruce, this way I don’t have to drive in the heat either with the air being out.

Another plus is the store is going to be closed in 10 minutes and there will be no customers. just me three stores and some peaceful time to work.

That’s it. That’s the post.

22 Hours

It would seem that being up twenty two hours straight and only getting five hours of sleep (I just can’t sleep during the day) will stop you from doing something you want to do, like writing a decent post.

That is exactly where I find myself tonight. I am groggy.

I’m still up because I wanted to spend time with the wife, so we’re watching The Sinner on Netflix. Interesting series.

Season 2. We binged the first season earlier this week.

That’s it. That’s the post.

There Goes Monday

Monday came and I didn’t have the usual sense of dread. Today I was determined.

Everybody hates Mondays but I hate Tuesdays. They’re super busy for me and we rarely have time to get in what we need to do because of extra activities dropped on us.

Today me and my SM finished a major project and a fairly large project for this week. It’s one of the bigger stores so it’s a bit of weight off our shoulders.

I came home tired but with a sense of accomplishment today. That’s rare in my job, I’m sad to say.

But we take a win where we can, don’t we?

That’s it. That’s the post.

The Job

A lady stopped me while I was working today and asked for help, which I am usually more than happy to give.

I don’t have to, I don’t work for the store, but sometimes the associates are so swamped with other customers and working freight that I do.

I’m part of that team as well as my team.

Anywho, she needed help. I’m standing there waiting for the request and noticed a little widening of the eyes. And then she asked…

β€œAre you on work release?”

Points to my lanyard.

β€œYes, ma’am. Can I help you?”

She turned and walked away.

I swear, some people.

Meet my cellie.

And some days I’d wear an orange jumpsuit to work just so none of them would bother me.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Gonna Be A Rough Day/Night/Morning

I’m lying here, drugged, trying to fall asleep.

Keeping up with my priorities which today were:

1. Church βœ…

2. Recording The Podcast With Sam βœ…

3. Editing The Podcast (In Progress)

4. Sleep (I’m Trying)

5. Off To Work At Midnight (Reset)

6. Taking Delivery Of A New Range Some Time Tomorrow

It’s gonna be hard but nothing that’s worth it is ever easy.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Early Wakeup

3AM is early.

I had a reset this morning for Frito Lay.

There are three of us. One leaning on the car. Almost crippled ourselves on that one.

I have a good team. This is where they shine. Smooth movement, quick work, and even packed out the shelves with five more pallets of freight.

Managers take notice of people when they work like that. I wouldn’t keep either from moving up in the company but I would sorely hate to lose either.

I’m tired.

Sleep will come easy tonight.

That’s it. That’s the post.
